The other morning, I deleated my first comment. Usually, I am elated to have tangible proof that the sisters are reading my posts, however this time I wasn't. I published the comment, but early the next morning, I clicked around and figured out how to remove it and I did. Why? Well, my blog is about myself as a homeschooling, ummie, wife, salafi, daughter, friend and all around strange person, thus the title Gharabah. Even though, I choose to label myself as a salafi mean: that I strive to call to the truth of the Qur'an and the Sunnah, which is the adherence to the path of the Messenger, may peace of Allah upon him, and the Fathful Believers, namely the Pious Forefathers (i.e. As Salaf as-Saalih) if of the Islamic Community of Believers and all those who follow in their footstep in their beliefs, actions and morals. Hey, don't we all want this? So, my family, we choose to take our deen from certain sources and likewise we leave off others and that is that. I enjoy sharing the tid bits of knowledge that I am able to obtain from my studies. I am not interested in arguing, because it is a waste of time. So, if individuals are uncomfortable with the books I quote from, the masjids I attend, and the events I advertise, you may comment, but be aware that it may not be posted.

Subhan Allah, I hope it wasn't a nasty comment. One of the things that I am enjoying about blogging is communicating with sisters from all sides of Islam without there being much judgement making. I think this is really important because we can learn a lot from the perspectives of each other even if we choose to disagree in the end. Personally I find that I see good in lots of groups and people and I hate the divisions that people put up between each other, we should focus on being one Umma instead of falling victim to Shaitan and getting stuck with trivial barriers.

Thanks Henna for the spell check, as you can see fixed it.
Jamilah, no nothing you said was offensive. I agree that we should definately keep up the sisterly dialogue. I just am not willing to put up with arguing and the potential spread of in truths. Also a reminder, al Islam is complete and it is in only one form. If we divide it up and water it down, we will no better than the mushriks. Even, our prophet warned us about splitting and stated that there will be many sects, but only one will be victoreous and the rest will be in the fire. It is super improtant that we build an ummah that follows the Quran and the Sunnah, nothing more and nothing less.

I guess the thing is the way we understand the Qu'ran and the Sunna differs from person to person. Sometimes things are clear, sometimes they are not. It is Allah swt who knows our intentions. I heard someone say that the one group who are on the right path may simply be a collection of people from all the different groups, these may be the people with true taqwa, the people who try hard to follow the Qu'ran and the Sunna in the way they (their scholars) understand it, even though amongst these people interpretations will differ. I like this idea, it makes sense to me because there are pious and humble people in all groups and also superficial and arrogant people. Allah knows best.

Jamila, insha'Allah ukhti be careful with this "collection of people from all the different groups, these may be the people with true taqwa, the people who try hard to follow the Qu'ran and the Sunna in the way they (their scholars) understand it, even though amongst these people interpretations will differ" yes differing is a part of this deen in certain matters, but in aqeedah it is not. What your describing in similar to the ideology of the Ikwani Muslimeen. This at times means turning a blind eye to those who oppose the sunnah of the messanger and even those who make innovations in the deen and even commit shirk. This is something I could never get with. There are authentic ahadeeth where the prophet warned his companions from sitting in certain groups of believers, because of their curruptive ideas. Also, the generations after them continued this. However, I can get with celebrating diversity of believers from other ethnic groups and all of the colors, flavors and languages they bring to the table, but only unified under what is correct.

Assalamu Alaikoum, you are exactly right! It was an Ikhwani Sister who told me that. But you know I like the Ikhwan. What you said surprises me because i think they follow the Sunna and I think Hassan Al Banna was critical of what he saw as the problems with some of the Sufi practices that he came from, eg. those that were bordering on or outright Shirk....not arguing(! )just interested to know what you are referring to.
